Purpose
This report highlights Texas public high school (HS) graduates who graduated from Texas two-year or four-year public colleges within eight years of high school graduation. The report shows the number of Texas public high school graduates receiving two-year degrees or four-year degrees within eight years of high school graduation.
Data Source
Data in this report come from the Texas Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS) and the Texas P-16 Public Education Information Resource (TPEIR), which includes Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) data about enrollment and graduation in Texas two-year or four-year public colleges.
Only students who graduated from a Texas public high school and graduated from a Texas public two-year or four-year college are included in this report. Out-of-state or private (independent) Texas higher education institutions are not included.

Data Elements
In order to protect student confidentiality, small data numbers in this report are shown as asterisks (*) in data tables and data are shown only for those school years where there were at least 26 high school graduates. Please note that data for more recent high school graduation years may be incomplete due to data availability.
High School Graduates:
Students reported as graduating from a Texas public school through the Texas Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS). Students graduating from the Texas School for the Deaf, the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired, and Texas Juvenile Justice Department (TJJD) schools are not included.
Completed Two-Year Degree:
This report displays the number of students completing a two-year degree from a Texas public college within a specified number of years following high school graduation. Ranges of the number of years taken by students to complete a two-year degree include 1 – 2 years, 3 - 4 years, 5 - 6 years, or 7 - 8 years following high school graduation. The “Before or Same Year as HS Graduation” category indicates that students completed a 2-year college degree while still in high school or during the academic year of high school graduation.
Completed Four-Year Degree:
This report displays the number of students completing a four-year degree from a Texas public college within a specified number of years following high school graduation. Ranges of the number of years taken by students to complete a four-year degree include 3 years or less, 4 years, 5 years, 6 years, or 7 - 8 years following high school graduation.
HS Graduates Awarded Four-Year Degree:
The number of Texas public high school graduates who graduated from a Texas public institution of higher education offering a four-year degree such as a Baccalaureate degree. A four-year degree normally requires at least four years of full-time undergraduate college work. For the purposes of this report, students earning both a two-year degree and a four-year degree are counted once in each degree type. Students earning multiple degrees of the same type, either two-year or four-year, are counted once in each degree type.
HS Graduates Awarded Two-Year Degree:
The number of Texas public high school graduates who graduated from a Texas public institution of higher education offering a two-year degree such as an Associate degree. A two-year degree normally requires at least two years of full-time equivalent college work. For the purposes of this report, students earning both a two-year degree and a four-year degree are counted once in each degree type. Students earning multiple degrees of the same type, either two-year or four-year, are counted once in each degree type.
